The metamorphosis of TJís.

Last night was the opening night for one of the ever decreasing number of English bars in Courchevel 1850. Based below the Catina hotel, TJís has always been one of the smaller places to drink eclipsed by the larger (and now defunct) bar líEquipe. Over my 11 season I have seen it change itís appearance many times. In some cases, only a new coat of paint and polyfila were used to hide the old girls age, in other years a more full-on refurbishment was needed.
This year the bar has been complete redesigned giving more space for the drinkers. The floor completely re-tiled and the floor to ceiling wood cladding has been halved with the remainder of the wall plastered making for a much lighter ambiance. The big screen TV above the fireplace has stayed but most of the tables and benches have gone.
Whether this new makeover will be a success remains to be seen but in my opinion itís a vast improvement and TJís remains an excellent place to get walloped.
