Moon boots have been around for ages. They are remembered best for being at the height of fashion when anything all-in-one fluro was a must to be seen in. And unless your mono mike, then allin- ones should be a thing of the past. However, moon boots seem to be making a comeback and more and more seasonnaires have been spotted fashioning them. There is though a definite mixed response as to how fashionable they really are. There are certain categories of 'moon boot wearers' to look out for when making your decision.
'The under three year olds' whose moon boots are warm practical, match their sledges and generally look quite cute.
'The rich Russians' whose moon boots are black, chic, worn with fur and twice the price of anyone else's.
'The non-skiing lady' who stays in
Courchevel only to shop and be seen in the smartest establishments. She can only be seen in the latest style, which always involves some fur in order for them to match her rat like dog (an important fashion accessory)!
'The moon boot wearing man' who jeans are so tight they are indecent, they are generally French and still living in the 80's.
'The nouveau riche' whose whole family have a pair, if not two and buy a new pair each winter. Generally very over the top and involve leopard print, fur and diamonties.
Despite this, outside of these categories moon boots are coming back and being worn in a 'retro - chic' way - even being seen away from the mountain and making their way to the fashionable streets of London. There was a mixed response in resort though. The general opinion from the boys was that if they were worn with a fantastic pair of legs and a very short shirt, then they were fine. If not then the opinion was a little negative. In fact, unsurprisingly, most of the boys were fairly unbothered and some didn't even know what moon boots were!! The opinion from the girls was slightly different and they definitely gave it more thought. There was still a 50/50 split in opinion, and a response similar to that of marmite - you either love them or hate them. Those that loved them thought that if you had a confidence to wear them, then they looked great either worn with jeans, rolled up or tucked in or with a shirt. And also favoured were the yeti variety which everyone thought had definitely caught on and have been seen fashioned mostly by trend setter
Jen(Ski Higher)! Those that hated them thought that they were best left in the 80's. There were however agreement on all sides, that moon boots were definitely NOT for men!
