Ben(Powder white) |
Wednesday saw the workers challenge, part of the Natives show love tour, in Meribel. Consisting of both an individual giant slalom and a team slalom. In the individual GS Jamie from Scott Dunn, Ben from Powder white and Jen from the Killimandjaro represented Courchevel 1850 with some performing better than others. Donning her go faster kilt Jen was the first down the course but unfortunately missed one of the final gates resulting in her disqualification.
In a spot of pre race Navy/Airforce baiting James(Scott dunn) doned his Army t-shirt and finished 28th in the male skier with a time of 54.64. ?Finally Ben(Powder white) finished in 9th place in a time of 48.54 which, after the instructors were removed, equated to 2nd of the workers. Following a mistake by John at the prize giving he was briefly promoted to first until the true winner, Buck, was annonced. A notable mention should also go to Elsa from Powderwhite for a) winning the female seasonnaire category and more importantly b) racing in a figure-hugging leopard print cat suit. (please note no leopards were harmed in the making of the suit).
In the team event Courchevel were again victorious with Team Swyss (grammar nazis please note this is not a misspelling but actually a new clothing brand) International who cruised their way to the final and beyond.

Alpine Excess t-shirts
 After running out of brand names that begin with C and sharing roughly the same length as Courchevel I have transmogrified a certain credit card logo. These can now be purchased directly from the online store on the web site and would make an ideal present.
Please note item shipped from France will take 3-5 days
to arrive in UK. (if the uk post office is not on strike)

A very bad season
For anyone who hasnt seen BBC Switchs The season (lets call them the lucky ones) it follows the very dull love lives of a bunch of spoilt seasonnaires in Val dIsere. As it was made for Switch, which is aimed at teens, it means it couldnt contain any vices in any way. No smoking, no drinking, no nudity. Just good wholesome teen relationships. I know, pretty boring!
What is less well known is back in October 2008 I was contacted by one of the programs creators who asked me, as an veteran of Courchevel, if the resort would be a suitable place to have such a program in. As they described the group of seasonnaires they were looking for I replied in the negative and instead pointed them in the direction of Val. For those who are glad that Courchevel was spared such mediocrity I accepted your praise. For anyone in Val who got caught up in it I apologise sincerely.

Snobituary
Gorgeous George gone but not forgotten*
 On Wednesday we lost a shining light of the ski bum masses. Since December George had been a prominent figure propped up against various bars around resort. To have called him accident prone is a slight understatement. Since his arrival he had managed to injure his finger, broke his nose, dislocated his collarbone and all without stepping out onto the slopes. He leaves behind a troubled Will Gill and his adopted Powder white family. He will be greatly missed.
After consulting a medium a second coming is rumoured in March.
