It shouldn't happen to a bar manager.

Throughout the winter season a manager of a bar can expect a few 'glitches' but given the state of some of these buildings sometimes you can't see the glitches for the catastrophes.
If problems like sewage pipes breaking, finding said pipes and bodging a fix by French plumbers, old pipes bursting, problems with the tills, weren't bad enough. Complaints about the sound level, what I like to call 'Guilty of running a bar while not French', shutting an hour early every night.
The kiss of death came when Abi commented on the excellent retention of staff at half season. Rather like Murray Walker commentating 'And there's just a few more corners for Nigel Mansell to go to win the Canadian Grand Prix...and...he's going rather slow....HE'S STOPPING HE'S STOPPING!'. Abi's engine started to metaphorically stutter when she lost Tim after the whole handyman saga, the duty manager and dishwasher, Laura and Simon suffering from MSB have called it a day and handed in their notice and bargirl Emma broke her wrist while learning snowboarding and so is going home next week.
To quote Kipling (Rudyard not Mr Kipling) ìIf you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!.î I guess that makes you a man now Abi... Congratulations.
