Courchevel in the summer part 1

As I returned to Courchevel 1850 for the start of the summer I was confronted with the realisation of the start of the redevelopment of some of Courchevelís older eyesores. Unfortunately that didnít mean the destruction of the 70ís monstrosity that is the Club hotel Maeva. That will have to wait for another year. In the place of the petrol station is a very large hole.
Let me elaborate, in the place of the petrol station, the plumbing business to the left of the petrol station, the buildings on the slope behind the petrol station, the slope, everything within 25 meters of the station is now like ìnot thereî. Since the lifts closed in May someone in a JCB has been very busy, either that or those aliens from Independence Day paid a visit and thought the president was hiding there.
Word is that the owners of the Auberge dismantled the entire hotel piece by piece. Nothing was wasted. Everything from light switches and fittings were removed to painstakingly removing each of the windows that surrounded the dining area. Iím sure in another part of France neighbours woke up and suddenly found someone had rebuilt the Auberge in the night. To fill the abyss Mr MGM is building a massive complex consisting of luxury apartments, a hotel, a swimming pool, a spa, a casino.
With no petrol station in 1850 the big question on every Russians lips is ìWhere are we going to fill up our Hummers now?î The planned site for the new station down the road at the Plan du Vah has been blocked for environmental reasons. Which means at the moment the small garage in 1650 is the only place to fill up. If this situation isnít resolved before the winter this will cause a major headache. Not only for petrol but for pressure washing, tyre chains etc.
