Now I have nothing against 1650 per se its just that it's a magnet for ALL the skiers in 1850.
Everyone always says how nice and wide the pistes are and how few people are over there(because all the 1650 people are off skiing in Meribel/Motteret). They don't mention it's as flat as a proverbial pancake, instead focusing on how it makes their skiing/boarding style looks amazing as they effortlessly carve at will over motorway wide corduroy. Personally I prefer a bit of a challenge whether it be icy Suisse or bumpy Creux.
I don't know if it's just me, but whenever I go skiing with a collection of seasonnaires there is always at least one in the group who doesn't have a three valley pass which severely restricts where you can ski.
As everyone discounts Le Praz and Le Tania for being to dark, the Saulier for being too crowded and 1550 for being too small.
Again I would like to make it clear I don't have anything against people with only a
Courchevel valley pass. Some companies do offer their workers an upgrade once a week but some unfortunately have to pay the extortionate 19 euros for an extension. To put that into contrast that's equivalent to 3 cocktails in the bars or a plate of, that gastro intestinal adventure, a chilli baked potato with a pint. Unlike the majority of the resort I don't get a lift pass thrown in by my employer so I know the value of 870 euro, that's well over £500 in real money (£585 to be more precise).
The next complaint is that they don't have enough time to go skiing before they have to get back to work. On Tuesday, in peak ? term lift queues I set off, with Hayley from
Courchevel at 10.45am managed to ski to La Masse in Les Menuires via Meribel, starting to return at 2pm and arriving back in
Courchevel by 3pm. This didn't involve skiing at 100mph and only used chair lifts to move around. So there is really no excuse is there?
Last year several of the teams in the three valley rally complained that it 'wasn't fair' because they had never been out the valley all season and didn't know where lifts where in Val Thorens were. That's 5 months probably skiing only around 1650.
